John D. MacArthur Beach State Park is one of the "must see" stops on any visit to the Palm Beach area.  There is a beautiful 1600' boardwalk over Lake Worth Cove.  It runs out to the park's barrier island.  The boardwalk joins a quarter mile long dirt path near an incredible beach.  The trails are relatively short, but the scenery is excellent.
A visit to the park is a natural part of any bike ride or jog along Singer Island.  Click here to see Singer Island trail information.

Walkway To Barrier Island - Copyrighted Photos

A quarter-mile long boardwalk over Lake Worth Cove stretches from the parking area/Visitors Center out to the barrier island and beach.  Note that Lake Worth is not just a city, but the large body of water between West Palm Beach and its barrier islands.

At one time bicycles were not allowed on the boardwalk.  That has changed and cyclists are now welcomed at John D. MacArthur Park.  Slow and safe cycling is allowed on the boardwalk.  The boardwalk is frequently used for bird watching.  You'll want to keep the boardwalk noise down if you see groups of bird watchers.

One Time Nude Beach At MacArthur Park - Copyrighted Pictures
The beach is long, wide and uncrowded.  It's a well kept Palm Beach County secret.  An interesting historic note... at one time this was Florida's largest nude beach.
There's plenty more to see in this area.  Click the link below to find out about the recreation trails on Singer Island or check out the wonderful kayaking opporunities at MacArthur Park..
