The Parcourse Fitness Circuit at the West Palm Beach
Veterans Administration Medical Center is a series of exercise
stations spread out over recreation trail ("course".) These
stations are marked by illustrated signs, showing the participant how
to correctly perform the exercise and to use the apparatus correctly. A
recommended number of repetitions, and a schedule of levels of fitness
are displayed to assure a complete
and safe fitness program for people of all abilities, ages and fitness
levels.
The Parcourse Fitness Circuit has taken jogging or fast walking
a step further by adding these carefully designed exercises which
provide a well balanced total body workout.
The West
Palm Beach Veterans Administration Medical Center is one of the newest and
nicest VA Hospitals anywhere. There is a narrow, two-mile paved
trail around the perimeter. The path and grounds are very well
kept. The trail is only lightly used by patients and staff.
Be sure to yield to the hospital folks if you see them.
Note that because this is a Federal facility, security is usually
seen here. The gates may be shut during times of crisis.
The Hospital path is good for walking and wheelchairs. For
biking and skating, Dyer Park (information above) is very close by and
a better choice. Emergency call boxes are located along the the
path. Inside the Hospital there is a nice food court and restroom
facilities.
